This is an excellent historical fiction picture book based on a true story. This is quite a fabulous picture book for character analysis, sequence of events as well as making inferences. In addition, it could be used to teach "theme" and central message as it stresses the importance of hard work in daily life as well as overcoming struggles as a family.
