My husband and myself have always enjoyed going on long walks. And I think when we got married walks became even more important to create a natural thinking space. For whatever reason-not that we do not talk in everyday life-but we always talk deeper talks when walking. It could be just the motion or the fresh air or the natural freedom that unleashes new ideas and troubling thoughts or important aspirations or inspirations.

Well tonight (due to a few naps) tended to be a later thinking walk than normal. But without hesitation, when one mentioned it to the other, we agreed that we would walk until the light began to fade between the sidewalks and gravel parking lots of the city in which we dwell. We ended up walking down instead of up and decided that going to find a warm spot to eat may be just as whimsical.

We decided upon this Ramen place on the corner of one of the streets, and I could not help but notice two signs that caught my eye on the inside of the establishment. The first being "There is Soul in a Bowl" and the second "Take It Easy." I felt like the first was a roadmap telling me to look for my soul. The second was telling me how to look for it "take it easy." And how true that is. Am I correct? How can you look into your own soul without first taking it easy? The soul is the purest form of whimsy inside of us. Every now and again it needs some heartfelt attention from us to think about perception, character and ultimately purpose and whether or now we are living the life we should be leading. At least for me, this does not occur without a rest. The soul does not reveal its purity with chaos or clutter. So I suppose I could create a third sign for the walls of the ramen place and that is: Remove the clutter. Find your purpose. Add that to your bowl.
