I think begin stuck in a place is sometimes the best thing for our souls.

My parents always made car rides enjoyable for us as kids.

I actually used to enjoy long car rides to the beach where my mom played books on tape. And we ate tasty snacks. My dad being the food king always had snacks in a cooler- sandwiches packed and ready to go. And on those longer car rides we sometimes played the "job game" or a "guess who" game in teams. It was a time to read books and listen to George Winston and think about important events that lie ahead or the school year we had just left behind. It was almost like sitting down to eat at a dinner table but extending it a few hours maybe even 6 or 7.

Even more whimsical is to think about the fact that your dinner party is traveling while you are talking. Time is literally passing but at the same time you are savoring life with one another.

The four of us were in a car tonight.

On our way to Buffalo, New York to visit the grandparents for Memorial Day festivities.

Some of us were drawing, others reading. Talking about wedding planning and cousins and friends and annoyances and peculiar situations, our present day lives, our past weeks and everything in between. We listened to The Parent Trap, Game of Thrones, laughing and making snarky comments and joking around.

Car time is precious time.

Think about that. It's that dinner conversation that is so genuine-you just don't want it to end.

The next time you find yourself complaining about that long car ride-think about the whimsy in those snacks, those conversations, that changing music station, those laughs and snarky comments, that Parent Trap soundtrack and realize there are no other times in our lives where we can honestly sit with the same people, in close proximity for three or more hours and just be forced to converse.

Those traveling dinner conversations are sometimes life's most precious moments. Look out that window and take time to remind yourself why you are here, how important building relationships are and the importance in both conversation and silence.

Those Four-wheel mobile genuine smiles.
