There is something transformational and magical that happens in December. I cannot quite place my finger on it but it is just beautiful. There is a little more pep in the step of those around us, there is anticipation of really an overwhelming feeling of whimsical encounters to come-all those lights really add a lot of whimsy. And I think if every month was treated like the month of December with that same anticipation of family gatherings and time with friends and family and time away from work-just imagine how different the world would be.
I listened to a really great sermon today which was all about dancing on the wrong side. Overall, the point was this: in every other month we tend to sing the blues when something does not go our way and we dance only when something positive happens-and even that is a rather fleeting feeling.
But I realized while listening to this speaker that the month of December is the one time where I can honestly say the majority of individuals are dancing at the right time on the right side. It's that one month where people seem to forget grudges(hopefully) and they dance in anticipation for things to come even if they find themselves in a rut caked with muddy snow. This one month-that muddy snow-it just begins to look different and feel different.
I guess my wish for the world and myself and those closest to me is to always dance on the right side. Find excitement and anticipation even if you find yourself in a bit of rut. Because dancing on the right side allows for a whimsical encounter of hope, faith and of course love. Try to dance every month the way that people dance in the beautiful month of December.
