Today is going to be a rather brief entry. Due to cold weather, all the schools had off today and thus I found myself with my mother and my brother's fiance enjoying a nice and relaxing lunch at Eatn'Park. Actually, it was qute lovely to see families, elders and young alike flock to such a warm place on such a cold day. It is no secret that there is joy found in sharing a meal with another.
Towards the end of the meal, I watched as a young boy and his grandmother enjoyed a nice meal together. There were no electronics but just good old fashioned talking. I thought to myself that this is a rarity nowadays when most of the time individuals are texting on their phones as an adult or friend is speaking to him/her. The boy may have been in third grade or even a bit older. As we were getting ready to leave, I watched as a giant hot-fudged sundae was delivered to the table. It was a layered glass of whimsy with brownies and hot chocolate sauce as well as whipped cream.
Despite the foods included, I managed to notice two things that I think are worth mentioning. I heard the boy say thank you (and I could tell he really meant it.) Manners mean everything. I also could automatically feel the surprise and warmth and wonder coming from the table. His smile told me this is not a treat he is able to order frequently at all. His face also told me just how whimsical he felt about his snowy day off eating one of life's greatest desserts with his grandmother. His face was serene but also filled with an energetic light. And you could tell that true love existed at that table because when the sundae was delivered, the grandmother's face was filled with even more awe and wonderment than her grandson's face. Feeling love about another's surprise is the ultimate form of love and patience and peace in this world. We do not always see the awe and wonderment enough, even when indluging in life's greatest sundaes. Today, I was lucky enough to see it all. Boy was it magnificent.
