Evaluation

This particular book is excellent for a variety of reasons. Not only are the illustrations beautiful and incredibly realistic, but the author has a way of tying in countless threads of the Native American culture through simplistic words that are easy for students in Kindergarten and First Grade to understand. Through a short, captivating story, the students are exposed to traditional Indian culture and the importance of the powwow. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to convey the message that there are still Native Americans alive today (just like you and me) practicing their traditions and culture.
