This morning we were lucky enough to view the Grand Canyon via a small airplane. The view was unbelievable, we were able to truly see the rocks, the ripples in the water and the shrubbery. To say it was awe inspiring would be an understatement. I truly enjoyed viewing one of the most majestic places of the seven natural wonders.
On our way back to Vegas we stopped along the famous highway that is the Historic Route 66.This particular highway was really the start of the first hotels and food places and diners on the side of the road. During the time of the Dust Bowl (1930's), people literally packed up their things because their land met nothing. They traveled along this route and headed to California. This highway travels through the following states: California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Illinois, and Missouri. Over the years, various individuals took it upon themselves to preserve this route 66. We stopped along route 66 in Arizona and visited Angel Delgsdillos barber shop. This was created to preserve the town of Seligman. Due to this preservation, parts of the old route 66 have been kept alive by tourists from around the globe.
We ended our trip in the magical world of Las Vegas, which is where our journey began. I feel truly fortunate to have been a part of this journey. Not only did I learn about the beauty of this world, but I also feel better equipped to teach these topics. It is amazing how at the end of every journey you become a new person. There are so may beautiful parts of America that I have yet to explore. With each trip, one builds a new identity-an identity that looks upon the world with wonder and a constant thirst for more knowledge.
