Tonight I headed to a PSTP gathering with my husband. This is a Physician Scientist Training Program through The University of Pittsburgh Medical School. The individual who runs this beautiful program or at least the social gatherings as well as coordinating the admissions process for incoming freshman as well as other events is a young soul (around my age.) His name is Blair and man does he have a beautiful story (as all people do.)

The first time I met Blair was a few years back. Blair is one of those individuals that has a beautiful light around him at all times. He celebrates life like it is his full-time job. And it is. He promotes the program while always making sure everyone feels loved, included and appreciated. He is a talented leader, an expert speaker and an overwhelming bottle of positivity. His glowing personality and booming voice are just a few of the characteristics that create beauty. Blair graduated from law school and since then has become an admissions coordinator completely altering an amazing program for young medical students.

What you may be surprised to know is that Blair was born blind. He does have a walking stick as well as hearing aids but he manages to see and hear everything around him. He is proof that life has no limits. He is proof that seeing things differently creates a beautiful life. He is living proof that sometimes those who see don't. And he is proof that sometimes those who cannot see do in ways that we cannot imagine. If I could see the way Blair sees at any point during my lifetime. Well-I would consider this a true success.

And speaking of seeing. After talking to Blair for about thirty minutes tonight he stepped forward a bit and said to me, "You know, Brianna. You are the type of girl I could see sitting on a couch, watching a football game and loving every minute of it." Without seeing me he certainly caught on to the fact that I am not " a girly girl."

I said, "Blair. I'm taking this as a compliment." He replied, "Brianna. You should take this as the highest compliment. Thank you for chatting with me."

See with your heart. Not your eyes.
