Following church today my husband and I attempted to head to a breakfast place which was closed thus we decided to explore the Strip District with the intent of eating something yummy. While our minds were set on a specific place, we decided upon a closer place that we happened to pass by at 10:00-the exact time the restaurant was supposed to open on this fine fine Sunday. With an urge to eat, we walked inside and had the most beautiful Italian breakfast. In fact, though neither of us have visited Italy, with my Italiano coffee, I felt like I was there.

This was the first weekend my husband had both days off (Saturday and Sunday) since this summer and so this breakfast was essential like winning the lottery five times over. And as we talked about life as we always do when sitting across from one another, we both took our time and relished in this moment of having time to talk and enjoy and let time pass as it would without a care in the world.

Though my husband and myself are generally people who like to plan and goal-set, part of the reason we feel the need to do so is because residency has required time constraints and careful planning to make the simplest of events (such as breakfast) actually happen. And so today as fate would have it, breakfast was semi-planned but we actually had time to spontaneously make a decision that usually isn't allowed to happen due to schedule. And spontaneity, though a way of living for some is such a rare treasure for us that I think it was spontaneity that created the feelings of multiplied love across the table today.

Even more ironically, when discussing breakfast with my twin brother via g-chat later in the day he replied with surprise that they, too had attended the same exact breakfast place only an hour or so apart with no planning. And so as it seems our spontaneous decision was simply meant to happen today, and we take every spontaneous decision with a large cup of italiano coffee and a spirited smile...until spontaneity and us meet again...it was a fun ride.
