
My name is Brianna Amoscato, and I am continuously learning, evolving and growing in my vocational journey. Though I spent eight years in the third grade elementary classroom and one in second grade, I equally enjoyed teaching Middle School students through extra curricular activities and small groups. Through past TEDx programs and poetry clubs, I am constantly inspired by the stories and voices of students and their families that thread together to create tapestries of change. Amplifying voices and centering diverse stories are at the heart of education. We learn life’s most important lessons from our students and from one another.
The longer I spent in education, the more I began to realize my passion for literacy, children’s books, youth psychology, research, identity development, curriculum creation, and social emotional learning. After achieving my National Board Certification in ELA in 2022, I became fascinated with literacy instruction at all levels. Though I contemplated school counseling, I decided to honor stories in a different way-pursuing the Masters in Library Science at The University of Pittsburgh with the hope that I would be able to return to the classroom as a school librarian or educator with more intensive knowledge and build literacy programs/continue to work on my teaching craft and provide out of school programming as well. Program development, content creation, curricular collection, teaching, relationship building and research are the facets of education that I have worked tirelessly to craft. I hope to apply what I have learned by working across multiple grade levels to teach and support students in their literacy goals while building diverse programming-this truly excites my soul.
