Marin is a girl from the Foster Care System who has been bounced around for as long as she can remember until her mother finally releases her and she is able to be adopted. A story full of realistic pain but also promise of a new life.

Evaluation

Marin is a well-developed character who experiences joy and sometimes resentment at the same time. Though I do not have personal knowledge of the foster care system, I imagine that this joy filled with resentment at the same time is probably only the beginning of a mixture of emotions that are felt by children who are abandoned and then brought into new homes to live. Though I would recommend this particular book to an older elementary student/middle-school aged individual, it is certainly one worth reading. A great mixture of characters and truly well done.
