I think one of the hardest deeds in life is finding whimsy in frowns. But you know, it certainly can be done. Back when I was in high school (ages ago it seems), for concert celebrations, graduations and even some good old hot peanut butter fudge sundaes, we would go to KINGS. Kings was our official hangout of whimsical frozen delights. I believe it was one of my greatest friend's high school graduations, a group of us decided to go Kings and order what was called the frownie brownie. Mind you, this was considered whimsical fun amongst the band musicians that were my friends primarily. We ordered the frownie brownie sundae which consisted of countless scoops of ice cream and too many frownie brownies to count. In case one is unfamiliar with the frownie brownie, it happens to be a rather smug looking brownie with a bit of a crooked frown artistically decorated with white iceing. Let me tell you, the frownie brownie was delicious. However, it certainly did not reflect the negative feelings brought on by the "frownie" name.

Every time I think of an individual who appears to be unhappy with me, I always think of that frownie brownie. As we go through life, it is inevitable we will receive a few frownie brownies along the way. Some will slide down that ice cream so fast you will not even see them coming. I am notorious for not dealing well with the frownies. I want to mold that icing frown into a smile, tuck up those corners and be on my way. But remember, some individuals are frownies for a reason. Maybe their smile was  mistake or maybe they were not cared enough by their creator or maybe they are a little disgruntled about entering into the tummy of a consumer. As I have come to realize, there is whimsy in the frownies. Those frownies remind you of the wasted energy due to frowning, the missed rainbow sprinkles, whipped creams and cherries on top.

We are not asked to rid ourselves of the frownies. Even though, sometimes this is what we do anyways. We are asked to dive head first, I believe into that bowl of goodness. Becase chances are, if you find a bowl of frownies, you will also find a lot of goodness and truth to go with it.
