Our second Christmas took place over at our favorite Northside apartment for a second gift exchange and mini-dinner party. I always enjoy my visits over there particularly because those are our people. For some people, I think it takes time to find close family or friends that seem like they are family. For us, we are pretty lucky because Nick and Tesin will forever be "our people." Most likely those will be the people we have our holidays with and that our future children look forward to visiting. No doubt that we hope to create the same environment for their future children some day too.
And how lucky we are that our people live 15 minutes away in an adjacent neighborhood right beside ours. Our people are great active listeners and they know our faults and our challenges and our blessings and we can say the same about them. Our people share the same views and similar goals and values. And most importantly, our people expect nothing from us and we expect nothing from them unless of course you are counting love but-that present is the most freeing gift of all.
The hope would be that if you haven't already...learn to find your people. Find those people you wish to surround yourself with every minute of every day and then realize these people are an important part of the village you are just starting to create. A village teeming with love and positive vibes and reminders of what really matters when it is so easy to get caught up in a world that demands speed.
