Today was most certainly a mountainous Monday. And I'm here to say that no matter how many hours goes in to planning something important (be it a wedding or a rehearsal or a lesson or even a run), sometimes what is unplanned creates a spark that is so much better than what was originally intended. And so today, we were all a bit sluggish and sleepy in the heat of the Monday, and I could sense our souls were becoming a bit tired. Thus, my original introduction into a recount narrative became a narrative recount in real-time.
Two minutes before teaching this said lesson, I ran down to the staff lounge, pulled out the Siracha sauce and sprinted back up into my classroom. We discussed the...

In the beauty of this Sunday morning, I had the opportunity to participate in the PSO Musicians 5K run. The first time since racing since an injury, I certainly had my doubts, but with a little glute stretch and some fingers crossed and a sprinkle of hope, I was off and running.
I often find myself thinking while I run. In fact, a lot of what I write or intend to write comes from the deep contemplation I have whilst running. Though-I'm not quite sure I would call my realization duing this run necessarily full of depth or pivotal, but certainly important enough to write about. The minute I stepped over the line to begin the race, I immedietely thought of a sign that still remains on the...

I had my second soccer practice/game with some of my team at Northview Heights. The sun was shining, and one of my players brought her baby brother Sonny (ironically.) Truthfully, there is nothing more energizing than watching a two-year old and also trying to coach soccer at the same time.
What was unusual about today is we didn't have our normal episodes of frustration. In fact, just the opposite. We were playing the blue team and certainly losing. However, any time the other team scored, one of the players on our team would erupt in giggling laughter and fall to the ground and the rest of the teammates would pile on top of each other screeching with laughter. We spent most of our soccer...

It's been a while since I've run down to watch the University of Pittsburgh warm-up before a game. But yesterday was almost the beginning of fall with crisp air and runners everywhere smiling and listening to the beats of life pass us by. And so I was more motivated to run that four plus miles beside the river. As I was running past the railroad tracks towards the stadium, I stopped and realized that as I was running to the left of the tracks, the cement barrier marked with graffiti and art held my silhouette which happened to run beside me, and I was reminded of Shel Silverstein's book poem about a little silhouette.
But as I tend to do when I'm running, I literally just let my thoughts...

For those of you who teach elementary, you know the importance of placing the word in a sentence and then repeating the word during a spelling test. And for those of us who have little friends who have a difficult time focusing, sometimes those sentences are repeated three times over with a few variations just to ensure that the student has heard the word and the context.
This Friday, one of our words was "life" I believe. My sentence was, "I have the most beautiful life" One of my students-who tends to have a difficult time focusing in the moment responded seconds after with "We all do." Well if that doesn't move your heart, I simply do not know what to tell you...
And then, on the...
