We woke up this morning around 7:00 and walked downstairs in the lobby of our hotel for a buffet breakfast. I found this to be fascinating because it was set up like any buffet you may see in the United States. However, instead of the usual ham, eggs, bacon and so forth there were purple sweet potatoes, eggs, porridge, pork buns, dumplings and other such food varieties. I took many pictures of this buffet, and I will be sharing these at a later date.

Instead of traveling up the mountain today, we traveled down the mountain. This was slightly scary because the steps were so small. Not only did your calf muscles begin to shake after a period of time, but you were constantly thinking about the fact that, falling was a definite possibility (unfortunately.) This particular day was like a three part adventure that just kept getting better and better. Although we did walk down many steps, there were other ways to reach the bottom of the mountain that you could try if you felt so inclined. One of the alternatives to traveling down the mountain by foot was going on this huge slide. In order to do so, you had to put on a green apron that wrapped around your legs, as well as green coverings for your shoes and gloves. After experimenting on this slide, I finally figured out that if you put your feet flat on the slide, you go much faster. The purpose of the shoe covering was to eliminate unecessary friction, which would cause you to slow down on your slide journey. I had so much fun during this process. After the slide, we continued to walk through caves and down stairs. There were a variety of mini-waterfalls that we took pictures by. In addition, we went on a zipline across the forest bottom. The experience was worth it (no regrets) but definitely caused some anxiety for me. This was the first time I had ever been on a zipline. I must say, if I never had to do that again, it would be okay with me.

Before heading back to the car, we walked through this market area where everyone was trying their best to sell us the foods they were cooking. One of the most delicious items we tried was a peanut rice cake dessert. The great thing about China is that you can sample as many times as you want and not feel bad about walking somewhere else to sample some more. These people are excellent sales people. They make you want to buy anything and everything being sold at the market. We ended up coming away with three boxes of the salty peanut delights. I was completely okay with this because, they were admittingly unique and delicious.
