We started the morning hiking the tropic ditch. It was a manmade irrigation engineering center to get water flowing to the town. This hike was my favorite. We walked up a steep hill to view the small waterfall. The combination of rocks and water made this my favorite spot thus far.

We continued to drive and stopped to get lunch at a mall that has the greatest view of the mountains. Eventually we arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah. We were greeted by the sisters who are essentially missionaries for the Morman church. We viewed the place in which the morman choir practices.  The choir is a very selective group of individuals. They are professional but thry are also volunteers. You are able to be in the choir between the ages of 20 and 62. The choir tours all around the world!

The other ares we toured included the tabernacle which is the area in which the members gather for community meetings. In general, church services last around three hours. The first hour is dedicated to communion where an individual comes around and personally delivers communion to each member. Thr next hour is generally when various members of the community speak out about issues they are passionate about. If you get to church early, the bishop may ask you to speak or usually, speakers are assigned passages before church two or three weeks in advance so they can prepare accordingly.

The sisters who gave us the tour were completing a mandatory mission that most have to complete for about two years. It was interesting because most of the sisters completing their missions in Salt Lake were all from different countries such as Italy, England and others.

Upon completing this tour we had a chance to walk around a bit. We did in fact run into countless wedding photographers taking pictures of those who had just gotten married. Apparently,  in the summer time, they may have up to 50 wedding ceremonies per day. When we inquired about how this was possible, it was made known that there are countless ceremonial rooms within the temple. In addition, the ceremonies are simple and last only 15 minutes. One of the main differences is at the end of the ceremony they say "for all time" instead of " till death do us part." The city itself is also quite clean. The courthouse is beautiful as was the public library. The library looked quite new on the inside and containec many glass windows surrounding the structure. It was an awesomd design.

The end of the evening resulted in a tour of the garden around the Lion House where Brigham Young once dwelled. The flowers were gorgeous and mostly maintained by volunteers.  The rooms of the behive house were also beautiful. Once again the beehive is the symbol of community,  collaboration and industry. The beehive works as a family as do the Mormons. Everything is centered around family/ how you can be a better family member.
