Today was a refreshing day in church. It may have been the first time I have attended church and the sermon surrounded concepts of faith, love and justice as well as some of my favorite Martin Luther King Jr. quotes. There have been many times I have sat in college, in church and other places where the name and the day are not even mentioned. A few of the points I wish to share were quite profound and really moved me. One of the messages said this: reform will never unfold if we pretend it belongs to someone else and tomorrow-is when fools reform.
At the end of some beautiful music and wonderful conversation, the last pastor left us with this: just remember....change begins with me. If we dont lead with love, we won't produce citizens of love. If we don't lead with gumption, we won't produce small citizens who will eventually grow up into big citizens to have these conversations. If we don't speak with a fire in our hearts and souls, we aren't teaching others to do the same. Love conquers hate and breaks down barriers only if we first find love in our own hearts to then pass onto others. Tomorrow is when fools reform so let change begin with me.
