I'm sure you have had that experience where you can taste that ice cream sundae on the tip of your tongue, that hot fudge oozing down the back of your throat. You're almost there, but that sundae is staring at you just out of reach as if it is playing a little trick right in front of you. Our travel experiences today were like that almost whimsy.  It began with a smooth ride to the airport and the quest for a chocolate muffin. I almost found a chocolate muffin but it was blueberry and then my husband surprised me with something to eat completely different than the muffin I was first thinking. And as I know by now, there is whimsy in unpredicted happenings-particularly food.  With that...

Today was my birthday and of course my brother's birthday. I woke up with the sun shining down on the garden outside the window. We walked down the pathway into Noe Valley towards our favorite coffee shop where I had my favorite blend of "Dancing Water." Truly, it tasted like the waters were dancing when I drank that coffee. So peaceful everything seemed today. We continued walking until we stopped once again at the mission district. This time, we traveled to the "Jelly Donut," a delicious little donut shop on the outskirts of the mission. I selected my birthday donut filled with custard (apparently my twin without me knowing selected the exact same donut-must be a twin thing.) Before...

Today was our greenery day. It was a day filled with exotic leaves and trees, green grass and miles of walking. We started our day visiting the Twin Peaks which is actually 19 minutes from where we currently dwell in the heart of Noe Valley. We climbed up and up and up until we reach a hill literally overlooking the entire city of San Francisco. It was breathtaking truly-what was equally as breathtaking was watching a number of individuals run up and down the hills surrounding the grassy mound.  After enjoying the views, we continued on our way to enjoy the sights of nature and art as we found ourselves at the top of the 16th avenue mosaic steps. If you want to talk about the definition of...

Today was Father's Day and it was Sunday. The amount of families out together was something beautiful to see. In the morning while walking around Noe Valley, I caught a glimpse of a Father trying to teach his daughter how to ride a bike without training wheels. Down at the wharf, a Father was teaching his sun how to cook the hot dogs to then sell to customers for lunch. A little boy sat next to his dad on the ferry ride back from Sausolito and answered every single one of the boy's hundreds of questions he was asking about the water and the boat (probably about three or four years old.) And there were probably many more magical moments my eye simply could not see.  And though I could not be...

This morning we woke up early to take a ride down to the Alcatraz loading station. It was a bit cold this morning at only 50 or so degrees. Nevertheless, the wharf was spilling with different language different people and that gentle spray of a breeze. It has not rained yet in San Francisco, but every now and then you will be walking along the sidewalk and realize there is a mist that is waking you up and alerting your senses to the world around you.  We took a ferry ride (quite peaceful) over to Alcatraz and begin our walking and guided tour around the area. Alcatraz is such an interesting part of history. Though it is a prison, the grounds surrounding alcatrez are absolutely beautiful-the...
