For some reason it has taken me twenty years to finally read this novel that I have heard about for years. The plot is incredibly exciting and extremely unique. It is the one book I have read where the plot was completely unpredictable. The way in which the characters are developed throughout the story is outstanding. Meg is a shy, bright individual but does not fit into the "normal kid" mold. Charles Wallace is a precocious five-year old who has an advanced vocabulary and can understand what other individuals are thinking and feeling. The reason why I love this novel so much is not because of the complexity and uniqueness of the plot, but the basic messages of humanity interwoven throughout. The purpose of this book is to encourage children to understand that being different is "ok." If everyone dressed the same and did the same things and had the same interests, life would no longer be as beautiful.
