Maxee is a student living in New York City and she comes upon a new friend named Drita who has just come to the United States to escape the war in Kosova. Together, they learn learn more about each other than they ever thought possible.
Evaluation
This book reminded me a lot of "Save me a Seat." Another fantastic book about blending cultures, bullying, learning English, becoming accepted and realizing the world is simply more beautiful when you are opening your eyes to another culture, another family, a different viewpoint. This story is a beautiful friendship between two girls who, though very different, have witnessed some truly hard moments in their lifetime.
