Amen to Action is a beautiful event that occurs in the city of Pittsburgh where multiple people of different faiths come together to pack one million meals for the homeless. And on this exact day last year was the Amen to Action of a lifetime because my brother decided to propose to the love of his life. So overwhelmed by this day last year, I did indeed forget the password to my phone for a few hours-which ironically I have not done so since.  Amen to Action is always beautiful but what solidifed the Amen to Action of my life following this event was a three hour coffee chat with my sister-in-law about future goals and dreams and life wishes. And I think Amen to Action in essence is this...

We tried a bit of a reflective sentence starter during our thanksgiving together and it went something like this: What is something you are truly thankful for this past year? And the following answers were given:  I'm thankful to have spent my anniversary with my wife in Paris I'm thankful to have met and married the love of my life I'm thankful to have become part of a new family and new traditions I'm thankful that our families were all able to get together during the wedding in August and I didn't really get much time to answer mine. Today was the day before break and as a class we were busy trying to finish up about 3,000 projects we needed to finish, read alouds, other literature books, etc. But for whatever reason, today seemed less rushed than the other days, and I think for the first time all year I was able to reflect a little bit on the beautiful class I have been given, their personalities and unique backgrounds and just the constant giving that unfolds around my class. And the thing is, when you are trying to move 25 children in a forward direction throughout the day, sometimes you tend to miss these small moments of gratitude and the multiplication of love that spreads every day.  Out of my five years of...

Our morning meeting today was filled with shareouts of festivities and favorite moments regarding Thanksgiving.. Here is what we came up with... 1. I'm thankful for the homemade noodles I made with my sister-they go in a soup and they are so good 2. I'm thankful I get to play outside football with my family. It's kids versus adults and adults usually win 3. I'm thankful I get to spend time with my Grandpa-he spends all his time on us, and I want to give to him.  4. I'm thankful for my cousins that are coming over 5. I'm thankful I get to spend Thankgiving with my friend-except her family eats pizza and ranch not turkey 6. I'm thankful I get to make cookies to then give to everyone during...

One of my students left for a few weeks to go to Mexico to visit family. She was not supposed to return until after Thanksgiving but it was a beautiful surprise when she walked in the door early on Tuesday. Everyone was so excited to see her. With the kindest smile she gave me a colorful bracelet, a warm hug and a big package of Bubbaloo gum. The students were pretty excited for me to try the gum so while two of the girls helped tie the bracelet on my arm the other one opened up the box of gum. We picked the flavor as a class and 25 curious eyes stared at me as I chewed and chewed-waiting for my reaction. It was seriously awesome gum. It was gum but also had a gusher like filling so when...
